“Writing is a shelter; teaching is a mirror.”
I’m Alpcan Özışıkçılar — a poet, an English teacher, and a seeker of meaning in the in-betweens.
English wasn’t always easy for me. As a student, I struggled through dull textbooks and repetitive drills that made the language feel like math or chemistry… Only rules to memorize rather than a world to see. Yet words became my refuge: poems scribbled in cafés, reflections on rainy nights, and lessons I would one day create for students like me.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language Teacher Education from Dokuz Eylül University and I am completing my Master’s Degree in Lower Secondary School English Teacher Education at Masaryk University, Brno.
Today, I work with neurodivergent and introverted learners, guided by the belief that creativity is not a luxury but a necessity in education. This site is where both parts of me meet:
• the writer who reflects deeply, and
• the educator who teaches with imagination.
Through poems, reflections, and classroom ideas, I hope to connect with those who believe in gentle learning and powerful expression.
Thank you for being here. May my words meet yours somewhere meaningful.
